High Speed Backstops CR/BR, CR/BN, CR/BS & CR/BZ

The CR series of freewheel clutches are designed for mounting inside machinery or gearboxes, and require an assembly incorporating bearings to provide concentricity between the inner and outer races.

Type CR/BN uses conventional sprag design, providing a low cost clutch, suitable for medium speed overrun of either the inner or outer race, combined with high driving speed, for both backstop and overrunning applications. These clutches can also be used for slow speed indexing applications.

Type CR/BZ use sprags which centrifugally lift from the inner race when the outer rotates at high speed, so allowing the clutch to run free of wear for a long service life. Used mainly on overrunning applications, they can also be used for backstop applications where the outer race is the free running element.

Types CR/BR and CR/BS freewheels uses lift-off sprags to provide wear-free operation when the inner race rotates at high speed. Usually used for backstop applications, often integral in gearboxes; but also can be used as an overrunning clutch providing the maximum drive speed of the outer race does not exceed 40% of the lift-off speed.
